The most important rule for storing any clothing for a length of time is to make sure it is clean. For suggestions on how to care for your wardrobe, visit our product care section. Doing so will eliminate going  through this time consuming process when you are ready to transition again. More importantly, it will prolong the life of your  garments. Storing a dirty garment typically has a negative impact on the appearance which cannot be reversed.

Most items should be hung to avoid wrinkles. Plastic bags used to return dry cleaning can be used to protect your garments during this time. However, knits and sweaters should never be put on a hanger. Instead, fold knit garments flat for storage to maintain the original shape. A cedar chest is the ideal place to store your sweaters.
