Address the Seasons in Style

Image1_1.4MBIn this time of transition, you may understandably be looking for advice on how to get the most out of your clothing investment. Read on to find out which styles can carry you seamlessly from Winter to Spring – and beyond!

Let’s start with businesswear essentials. Every man should own at least one suit, and should have several if his workplace requires. Wool suits are extremely versatile and range from lightweight to year-round weight, depending upon the material. This Charcoal Plaid Wool & Silk Double Breasted Suit can be worn in any season thanks to its year-round fabric weight and ever-appropriate elegance. If you are prone to overheating, look for a suit marked as lightweight, such a wool and linen blend or cotton seersucker. You’re going to get a lot of use out of your suit, so be sure to choose at least one in a neutral color such as black, grey, or navy.

Go with a wool or cotton sport coat or jacket that is marked as midweight, signifying that it is multi-seasonal. Pair your sport coat with wool or microfiber pants for a look of which any office would approve. Another popular option is linen, which is very breathable and as such, midweight styles are perfect for transitional weather and lightweight styles quite fit for warmer days. Choose linen pants for supreme comfort, and on casual days choose cotton chinos for a less dressy yet refined appearance.

The most important advice we can give for the Winter to Spring transition is layer, layer, layer. All of our dress shirts are made from 100% cotton, and are therefore ideal for comfortable year-round wear. Sport shirts made from cotton or linen are also perfect base layers to be worn under knits. On cooler days, pair your dress shirt with a cotton or cashmere sweater and polish off the look with a tie. Mix and match vests with sport coats and pants for an extra layer of warmth and panache!
