Sweltering Swagger: Bold Style When the Temperature Climbs

Yes, we know the dilemma: How do you keep your dapper distinction when it’s blazing hot? After all, style and elegance come from layers and accessories, right? Three-piece suits, Chesterfield overcoats, cashmere scarves — stuff like that.

When it’s too balmy for even your favorite lightweight sport coat, take a cue from the 1930s, the Golden Age of Menswear. The resort look popular at that time is a great blueprint for being cool and casual but still showing that you’re a guy with some serious style (for a cinematic example, check out “Evil Under The Sun,” an Agatha Christie adaptation with Peter Ustinov as detective Poirot).

Linen: A Natural For Warm Weather Men’s Clothing

Think of linen as the rebel of the fabric family. In an age when men have wholeheartedly embraced the convenience of non-iron shirts and trousers, linen stubbornly remains its crinkly, wrinkly self. Of course, that’s part of its charm.

Made from fibers of the flax plant, linen has been a part of civilization for ages, and civilized is a great way to think of it. Stylish men embrace, rather than evade, the character of its crinkly surface combined with a drape that’s more structured than silk but more flowing than cotton.

There are many ways to embrace this warm-weather fabric staple. This season we’ve got it in virtually every color you could want, not… Continue>>

Spring 2012: Men’s Clothing Styles & Trends

Spring is always, well, spring like, but if you’re lucky each year brings something new and unexpected into your life. That certainly goes for us, as each spring season we get equally excited about putting fresh twists on old classics as well as unveiling new surprises. Here are some highlights of the Paul Fredrick Spring 2012 Collection.

Details continue to be a big focus for us, and perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than in our latest crop of dress shirts. For starters, we were dazzled on a buying trip to London by pleat detailing down the front of dress shirts, which we thought made the shirts look terrific with a… Continue>>

Selecting a Knit / Sweater Fabric

Knit Wit: From merino to pima, linen to silk, this is all about knits.

Knits and wovens are two of those industry terms we in the clothing biz throw around. In common terms, what we’re talking about are pretty much sweaters and shirts, but not exclusively. Knits, which refers to fabric produced by pulling threads up and through each other, are how many short-sleeved tops for warm weather, such as polo shirts, are made, in addition to your favorite chunky winter sweaters.

Our clothes have a relevancy that will give you the confidence of being “on the ball,” but without a six-month expiration date that starts ticking the moment you open the package. And with our fit guarantee and quality standard, everything you choose can be worn for years to come.

So… Continue>>
