Paul Fredrick offers a wide variety of business dress and business casual wear, from top (hats) to bottom (shoes), but our extensive shirt collection is what Paul Fredrick is known for, which is why we’ve made them the topic of this trend post. Some of you may know that shirts – specifically dress shirts – are what we started with over 30 years ago. Today we continue that tradition of classic American business style, with our Paul Fredrick twist, of course.
So what’s new in shirts this season? Well, to much fanfare, we’re re-introducing some hard-to-find collar styles that will increase your options even more for our already impressive smorgasbord of shirt designs. The Club Collar and the Eyelet Collar are two in particular that have come back onto the scene in dress shirts. In sport shirts, the newest addition has been a flattering hybrid of the spread and button down collars called the Spread Button Down Collar.
Horizontal stripe shirts, a twist on the classic vertical stripe, have been a major trend recently in menswear. If you ever feel like switching things up, we would definitely recommend you give horizontal stripes a try! We predict that new and interesting patterns will continue to appear on the market as brands push the bounds of the traditional. Check out our new collection to see how we’ve given business style a delightful update.
Fit & Trim
White trim provides the opportunity to add a clean crispness to a colored dress or sport shirt, which would usually be trimmed with the same fabric or another complementary color. Many men like to display the pop of white by unbuttoning their cuffs and front placket. As an added bonus, one of this season’s offerings is treated with our new Stain Release Technology to prevent yellowing in the collar and cuffs. It’s available in four great colors: lavender, melon, sky blue, and tan.
Linen is very well known as one of Summer’s biggest fabrications, and it certainly has a sizable presence in our collection this season. In addition to our classic solid linen, for Summer ’17 we’re introducing patterned linen shirts. Our linen shirts come in both short and long sleeves, several different collar choices, and a number of beautiful seasonal colors and patterns.
Camp It Up
Silk camp shirts have long been one of our top-selling Summer styles – many love the casual, throwback flair of the look. They’re so popular, in fact, that we’ve brought back that style in a cotton fabrication as well. Cotton camp shirts offer that same cool style, but they’re more easy care and wear due to their differing fabrication. So if you’re a fan of our silk camp, we encourage you to take the new cotton camp for a spin!
Those were our top shirt trends from the Summer 2017 Collection. Which ones will you be trying out this season?
